You are listening to The Life Coach School podcast with Brooke Castillo, episode number 537.
Hi there, and welcome to a three-part series I am calling The Weekly. And in this three-part series, I'm going to introduce you to the process, to the system that I've been using over the past 20 years to help people change their lives in any way that they want. And what I have learned is very simple. If you want to commit yourself to working on yourself, working on your life, you need to do it at least once a week for at least an hour.
You can change the trajectory of your life if you're willing to make this commitment. I have thousands and thousands of clients who are evidence of this through their experience with my podcast, with my program, Self-Coaching Scholars, and Get Coached. So it's a combination. What the process is a combination of one, learning the tools of life coaching, two, having them ingrained into your life through repetition, and three, applying them to change the effect on your life, the results through application. So it's one learning, two repetition, and three application.
And I want to just give you a little bit of background that I discovered for myself in this process when I was going through some of the hardest times in my life. When I, once a week, would engross myself in an audiobook or listening to other people coach and hearing the effect of the mind shift and hearing the effect of the application changed my life. One of the missing pieces for me in the beginning of my journey was that I was an avid reader, and I was very good at reading a book, very good at understanding a concept, and I would even apply the ideas, even that day, right? But I wouldn't continue it because there was no repetition.
I noticed that many times after I read the book or was introduced to a concept and got excited about it, then it would disappear out of my life. I mean, I'd forget about it. I wouldn't have it ingrained. I'd be like, "Oh yeah, I remember. I liked that idea." And what changed for me in kind of an accidental way was that I started listening to teachers apply their material live with live audiences through workshops, through coaching sessions, through recorded seminars. And what happened when I did that is that the material came alive.
I started really seeing it applied in ways that I hadn't even thought of in different scenarios, and it helped me not only memorize the material, ingrain the material, but also it helped me understand it in a way that I could start applying to my life in a regular way. And what I noticed was the biggest effect was when I started doing this for at least one hour per week.
So fast forward to me creating content for all of you and for all of my clients. What I started to experience with my students, especially the ones that were listening to the podcast, is that they were excited. They were rejuvenated, and they felt like they were learning. They felt like they had a lot of hope. They loved my ideas. But for my students that just listened to the podcast, I didn't see them apply it as much. I didn't see the growth as much. Most of them were a little bit stuck in just hearing and learning the concepts.
And so that all began to change when I introduced my program, Self-Coaching Scholars. And in Self-Coaching Scholars, I would coach inside of there once a week. So not only would my students be able to hear the concepts applied to my clients live, but they'd hear them applied in different scenarios and over and over and over again. They would hear and be reminded, "Oh, that's how I apply that. Oh, that's how we use that. Oh right, we have that tool."
And what we started to notice is that our students who stayed with us for at least a year, listening to at least one hour of coaching per week, they had a significant life change compared to those who didn't. So the first phase, right, for me was introducing everyone to the concepts in the podcast, the ideas in the podcast, and you know, having those reiterated once a week and introduced once a week. And then the next step was they joined Self-Coaching Scholars and listened to me coach every month.
They'd listen to other people have these tools applied to them, and many times they would raise their hand and have them applied to their own specific situation. And then the third piece of that really cemented it for them was doing it and applying it. So introducing the material, hearing it over and over again, the repetition, applied in different ways, applied to different people, and then the execution in their own life, the motivation.
And what we learned is that the motivation to execute these types of changes, these types of tools, these types of mind shifts in life would be at their highest when they first heard the coaching and at their highest when they were first introduced to the concepts and saw them applied. And then, over several days, the enthusiasm and the application would start to wane. And the application would be hot and heavy in the beginning, and then it would dwindle towards the end of the week.
And so what we saw that is if we could get them back on a call within seven days, get them back into the mix even, you know, on a call listening to a recording of the coaching, it would invigorate them, reset them so they could have the motivation to carry on. And we did this every single week for eight years, and we had the most powerful coaching program I've ever had. For a large group of people to make the amount of changes that were being made, we knew that we were onto something.
And so I decided that piece right there, that important weekly piece of hearing the coaching applied, participating and applying it to their own lives once a week was the most important thing that I could offer. And so because of that, because of the studying, because of the understanding that what I wanted to do was create a program that would help people the very most. I started thinking about it, "What could I do? What program could I create that would help people change the fastest? What could I do that would help people change in a way that was significant and had an impact on their life?"
And so I have been working with my team a lot, and one of the things that's important to remember is that I have thousands of hours of material recorded in courses. So on my website, you can go buy a course and take the course. And in that course, you can witness me teaching, and you can also see the application of the coaching, and you can hear on the second half of most of those calls, because what the deal was is I would coach most people on the material that I introduced for the second half of the class.
But what we learned with courses, that the missing piece was that the motivation, the application, and the excitement, it only lasted in that intense way for about seven days until after the course ended. And what people were missing was the regular connection, the regular ongoing connection. Especially for example, like in a weight loss course, we needed to have that weekly touchpoint so they could get reinvigorated, remotivated as soon as they started running into frustration, lack of discipline, lack of motivation.
So I decided to reinvent my program. And what I wanted to do for 2026 was make it so it wasn't just a course. It was a coaching session with me every single week. And once we decided on that, I knew that we had to find a way to introduce the material to everyone, especially the brand-new students, in a way that would help them hit the ground running.
So what I tend to do in many of my coaching calls is at the very beginning, I'll introduce an idea. I'll introduce a concept. I'll review a tool. And this is great for brand new students because they need to learn about my tools and learn about the mind shifts that we teach here. And they need to learn about the effectiveness of life coaching and self-coaching. And it's really good for the students that are veterans because they get the repetition that they need. They get the ingrained, that step two, that ingrained memorization and application and memorization and application over and over and over again.
So what we really found is that people learn the material when they hear the concepts reintroduced in different ways, taught in different ways, applied in different ways, and coached in different ways. When I created The Weekly and I was talking to my team about this, I'm like, we need materials for those people who aren't already familiar with my work and haven't listened to all the podcasts so they can access the information in a quick way. And so we decided to provide that.
We created a book bundle that people can access either digitally or with a physical copy to their home, which is the entire podcast summarized. That is my entire podcast summarized one page per episode to introduce the concept, and that's all indexed, table of contents. It's very clear. I also included a new book called Life Notes, and this is a summary of the most important tools of what I want everyone to have at least some familiarity with before they come to the coaching sessions.
And then in that book bundle, I also included a book called Friday Coach Like, which is a summary of some of the writings that I did early in my coaching career when I was just starting to teach. And so it's kind of a beginner's guide of looking at the material. So for new beginners, if they buy the book bundle, they'll have a little bit of a head start that you know, they'll be able to dive into the material and be able to show up for those weekly sessions without being completely confused.
But I've also designed the weekly sessions that no one will be completely lost because at the introduction of each one of those coaching sessions, I'm going to give a summary of some of the tools. No one will be confused because we'll go through the material in a way that ingrains it, that emphasizes it, and also applies it. This is going to be like nothing else you've ever done. And with these three steps in the process in the weekly process, anyone who wants to change their life a little bit will be able to do that quite effortlessly, just by showing up to these calls by the end of the year.
But those of you who want to change your life significantly and impossibly and blow your own damn minds, we're also going to give you the material to show you how to show up in a much more motivated, assertive, aggressive way to make huge changes in your life. And I will say that for me personally, there are years when I choose to make aggressive, big decision life changes, and there are years when it's just little subtle, stay-on-track changes.
And this is what we want to offer. No matter what type of year you're in, you'll be able to come to The Weekly whenever you want and make a big change or make a little change. When you join us, you're going to stay on track. You're going to stay refreshed. You're going to be able to reset. You're going to be able to get motivated and reinspired every single week. You're going to be informed and connected all throughout the year.
I just recently had a couple of my friends over to my house up in Lake Tahoe. And as you know for this past year, I haven't been doing any regular coaching. We haven't been doing scholars. And they were telling me how much they're missing that weekly reset. They're feeling like their brains are not dialed in as they used to be when they were in Self-Coaching Scholars. These are my friends who are also in my program. And I was telling them I feel the exact same way.
I feel like when I coach, I get that reset myself. When I reiterate these concepts for myself. And so, you know, I don't need to come back to work. I don't need to be coaching at all, but I really, really miss it. Not just because I miss all of my clients so much, but I also miss being sharp in my self-coaching, being sharp in my own coaching by doing it once a week.
So there are two main ways that you can take The Weekly. You can set your alarm and put it on your calendar and show up live every single week, and you can raise your hand. You'll just know that it's a Wednesday and you're going to be on that call regardless. That's the most important meeting you want to be at live. You want to get the information that minute. And we will teach it, and you'll have an opportunity to raise your hand and possibly get coached.
But for others of you, you may want to just get the recording. And we're going to give you a private podcast feed so you can get that recording once a week, and you can listen to it at your leisure and at a time that you want. But I want to encourage you that if you don't listen to it live, you listen to it recorded. We're going to send you the audio recordings of the calls, and if that's the way you want to consume them, that's fine. We just want to make sure you do consume them. And if you're really diehard, you do both. And you can show up to the call live, and then you listen to the recording for the ingrain, for the memorization, for the repetition.
You can go back to certain recordings, certain coaching sessions multiple times if there's something in one of those sessions that you're working on. You can listen to three or four a day on harder days. However you want to apply it, you can. So for me personally, it's very important for me to set up my business this year in a way that will allow for me to travel and have the freedom that I've earned by creating such a successful business.
And so the process that I did to ultimately create this program, what I did is I took a piece of paper and I put a line down the middle, and I said, "Okay, what do my clients want?" And I listed it all on one side. And then on the other side, I listed everything I want and everything that is important to me. And this is a tool that I'll teach you in The Weekly. It's called the Want Match. And what I did is I looked at where we had overlap, where our want matches were. And then I created this program that includes all of our want matches, includes all of the magic.
And one of the things that I know a lot of you want and a lot of you have asked for is to have me coaching you live. Me engaged, me connected, me coaching on the call, and that's a perfect match for what I want because that's exactly what I want. And a lot of you want some consistent coaching, and that's a perfect match for me.
And so when I went through all of the want matches, and I asked myself, what's the simple, most effective program that I can create that won't require me to have a large team? I came up with The Weekly. And here's how it's going to work. There's going to be a Zoom link that everyone will get. Now, this is an important distinction for those of you. It's not a website that you're going to be logging into. You're not going to get a login. You're simply going to get that Zoom link. You're going to put it in your calendar for every Wednesday.
When it's time for the call in your time zone, you will click on that link and you will come live. And you'll be able to join us live through the email that you registered with. And once you join that, you'll be able to have the ability to raise your hand, and you can get coached. You can get coached anonymously or you can get coached on video with me. And what that does for me is it doesn't require me to have a lot of maintenance or a big team. It's just a very simple, elegant business model.
You basically click on the link, you get on the phone or the computer, and you get coached, or you listen to the recording. And then you'll also have another link that will give you access on the regular every single week, and you'll have it in your phone in the app where you'll just be able to listen to those recordings from that day or from any day earlier in the year.
And what that does for me as a business owner is it allows me to know that I can go anywhere in the world. I can travel anywhere and coach you once a week. So I'm getting married this year, and we have trips planned to the Philippines and to Japan and to Thailand and to Costa Rica, and I want to go to many, many, many more places. And I want to have many, many, many more adventures, and I want to take you with me.
I think it's so fun to coach in different countries, in different areas. Maybe I'll be coaching in the middle of the night, but I'll be able to share that adventure with you, share that experience with you, and also coach you from all over the world. And same with you. You'll be able to get coached from wherever you are. It doesn't matter if you're traveling, it doesn't matter if you have to be somewhere for work, it doesn't matter if you have a full, busy day of meetings. You can always listen to the recording.
And one of the things that I highly recommend that you do is if you're not going to join the call live that week, is that when you're listening to the recording, you go on a walk or you go work out. You have some movement associated with listening, and then it's kind of like two birds, one stone. You get your health on in terms of your body, but you also get your health on in terms of your mind. You know, sometimes I'll be coaching in the middle of the night. That'll be fun.
And very rarely, I might have to switch a call, change the time, or just do a recording. But I'm going to try not to do that. I'm going to try to do it the exact same time so you can all plan to be on a call. But sometimes things happen and I might have to switch it around. The main reason why I might have to switch a call around would be because I want to watch Christian play golf in a tournament. And when that happens, it's all bets are off and we just make it the next day, or we make it at a different time. But you will be informed well ahead of time if something like that happens.
So I'm going to start the sessions off. Like the question is, what are you going to do in these sessions? I'm going to start the calls off with a concept, with an idea. I'm going to pick an idea and kind of talk about a concept. Now, I have a lot of concepts, and I'm going to talk about them in the next two sessions of this weekly podcast. This is a three-part series. I'm going to talk about the tools and everything. But I'm going to introduce on these calls, I'm going to introduce a tool and how you might utilize the tool in your life to make your life better. And you can use that tool as kind of your guidepost that you can focus on.
But I'll also be opening up the call to any issue about anything that anyone wants to talk about. So you can raise your hand and get coaching on anything. And what I learned from Byron Katie, and what I think is true, is that most of our problems are recycled. So most of what happens in the human brain is pretty predictable. And what you will learn by being part of The Weekly is that someone else's issue will actually be your issue too. And often, someone else's issue told in a different context will have more of an impact because you won't be so caught up in your own programming, and you'll be able to benefit so much more from that coaching.
And I think listening to someone else be coached is more effective even than you being coached personally. And we have this concept that all of my certified coaches will recognize, and what this concept is called holding space. And as a coach, I teach all of my students how to hold space. If they want to be coaches, they have to hold a space of unconditional love and non-judgment for whatever the client is going through. Now, this is a challenging thing to do for most people because most of us have opinions, most of us have judgments about other people's lives and what they should do, and our values may differ, that sort of thing.
So it's really important to put all of that aside when you're coaching so you can hold space because your opinions are really none of your client's business. Your judgments are none of your client's business. And to just hold space where they can look at their own brain and they can explore their own life from within their own lens or they can change their lens as they choose to, but not as you expect them to. And when you're doing what we call self-coaching, when you're trying to coach yourself through a problem and utilize the self-coaching model, you have to do that same thing. You have to hold space for yourself. You have to create a non-judgmental, unconditional loving space for yourself to hold for yourself.
And this is one of the most challenging things that we do, especially when we first start coaching ourselves. If we haven't practiced non-judgment with ourselves, this is going to be really challenging. It's very difficult to coach yourself because what happens is you start coaching yourself on thoughts, and then you start judging yourself for your thoughts. You start coaching yourself on your feelings, you start judging yourself on your feelings. Then you start looking at your own actions, you start judging yourself and criticizing your own actions.
Now, if you start doing this, if you start beating yourself up during a coaching session, it's completely non-productive because you won't be able to understand the cause. You won't be able to see the perspective. You won't be able to make general changes. You won't be able to analyze it in a way that's helpful because you're too busy beating yourself up. And I know that so many of you can relate to this. I can relate to this. And so the same thing, the same phenomenon can actually happen when you're being coached. You can start judging yourself as you're being coached.
So for example, if I'm coaching you on something that you're experiencing and we bring up a lot of the thoughts that you're having, a lot of the feelings that you're having, you may be in the middle of that coaching session and you may be tempted to start judging yourself. Even if I'm holding unconditional loving space for you, and that will make it more challenging for you to make a change. So my job is to help you not do that if I'm coaching you. But when you watch someone else be coached on a similar issue, it's usually much easier to clearly see the issue and not judge them and to love them unconditionally.
I think it's crazy. It's so much easier for us to give everyone else the benefit of the doubt, to love them, to not judge them. But when it comes to ourselves, we are often so much more critical. So oftentimes when you see someone else coach, you're like, "What? What they are thinking is illogical. What they're thinking isn't true. What they're feeling isn't necessary. The suffering that they're experiencing is so optional. Okay, I get it."
When you see that in someone else, the aha moments can come much faster, and the change can happen so much faster, and you weren't even the one being coached because you can see what they're doing to themselves in their own mind and you're like, "Wait, I'm doing that in my own life." And so that's why I found group coaching to be the most effective form of coaching, way more effective than one-on-one coaching even because one-on-one coaching, it's so much easier to get locked into a spiral of your own thinking, get lost in your own mind, and start over-analyzing. When we do group coaching, whether you're being coached or not, the space is more supportive and the powerful energy of the group propels us forward.
So the last decision that we had to decide as a team at The Life Coach School when we were coming together and creating this program was what are we going to charge for this? We had typically charged a fee every month. It was a membership fee every month for Self-Coaching Scholars, and that fee was collected every month automatically. And for those of you who are coaches, you know that running a membership actually takes a lot of energy from the business owner. That would be me. It takes a lot of marketing upfront every single month. It takes a lot of energy to get people into the program. And there's a lot of technical things that need to happen. And it's very logistical. And even though I love a membership, and I ran one for eight years, and I highly encourage so many of my coaches to do it, I just didn't want to do that anymore. I didn't want to manage that anymore.
So I asked myself, what can I do where it's just a one-time fee and one-time access for the entire year? And it doesn't matter when you join in the year, you get one-time fee, one-time access to all 52 coaching sessions. You get the link, you get the podcast download, no matter when you buy it. You get all the recordings, you get the coaching. You get to choose to buy the book bundle if you want, and you'll get that as well. And I came up with the idea that it would be just one price for the entire year. And then we decided, okay, one price, one year, no matter when you sign up.
Now, what is that price going to be? And if any of you have taken my business courses, you know how I think about pricing and how I've always priced myself in the past, and this is a very thoughtful thing that I do. And one of the things that was important to me is I didn't want this to be a difficult decision for anyone who wanted it. I didn't want to have to do a lot of marketing. I didn't want to have to do a lot of sales. I didn't want to have to pitch. I didn't want to have to create a lot of complicated funnels. You know, I want to be traveling. I want to be watching Christian golf. I want to be enjoying my life and coaching once a week.
And so I knew that I had to keep the price in the sweet spot low enough that it's a no-brainer. And so I ran it by dozens of my friends and clients, and every single one of them said, "Oh my gosh, I will sign up immediately. That is a no-brainer." So I knew I had the right price. So the price for The Weekly for the entire year is a one-time cost of five hundred ninety-seven dollars. You get all 52 coaching sessions. You get weekly coaching sessions for the entire year. You get all the recordings, and you can sign up at any point during the year, and it's the same price because if you sign up later in the year, you'll get all the previous recordings. If you sign up at the beginning of the year, you'll get access to all the live calls starting with the first one starting in January.
It's a very simple, elegant, beautiful business model. There's no funnels, there's no complication, there's no video series. We're going to market it in a very simple way through email and through this type of sharing, this podcast, and this experience with you. And I have to tell you, I'm in the most wonderful, abundant space about it.
And I want to tell you the most awesome thing about this program. I've never really had the luxury of not needing a certain number of people to sign up, a certain number of people to show up, because I'm definitely not doing this for the money. I'm definitely not trying right now to grow my business. I don't need to do it marketing-wise in a certain way. I don't need to check all the stats. I'm not going to have to be having meetings all the time. This is simply an offer that I felt insanely good about signing myself up for to deliver and insanely good about offering because I know it's an irresistible offer. I know it'll be incredibly easy. I know I'll be able to over-deliver, and so that's the program. That's The Weekly.
And on the next two sessions of this podcast, I'm going to do a review of the concepts that we will be delivering in The Weekly. And I want to introduce you to what we will be exploring in The Weekly over the next year. And I wanted to do this as a summary for people who maybe haven't had as much exposure to my work, but also, I wanted to do it for those of you who are wondering if this is something you want to commit to.
And so I'm going to talk about my tools. I'm going to talk about my philosophies. I'm going to talk about my plans for 2026. I'm going to talk about my goals. I'm going to talk about your goals. And I'm really going to give you a taste over the next two episodes and a preview of what The Weekly will be all about. I will not be doing the podcast in 2026. I will not be doing podcast episodes or posting them, but I will be doing The Weekly, and The Weekly will be in your private podcast feed.
So as you receive that private podcast, you're going to get all my new ideas, my new tools, my new concepts, and also my new experiences. I'm in a very different phase in my life now than I ever have been. You know, so I'm attracting a very different type of client. I also have many clients that have grown up with me and that have grown older with me that want to come along for this ride and explore what it's like on the other side of tremendous success. What's it like on the other side of tremendous wealth? What's it like with a brand new true love that I'm traveling the world with?
And also, how am I managing suffering? How am I managing pain? How am I managing the 50/50 of life? And what I want to share is what I do believe based on the last 20 years and thousands of coaching sessions are the most effective tools to make your life better, to make yourself more evolved. So listen, I hope you'll join me on the next two sessions where I talk more about The Weekly, and more importantly, I hope you'll join me in The Weekly. You can sign up right now by going to TheLifeCoachSchool.com/weekly. I'll see you there.
