The Most Important Subject You Were Never Taught Was You.

You went to school.

You learned math.

History.

Science.

You probably spent some amount of time learning the parts of a cell.

Maybe a foreign language.

You learned how to write an essay, pass a test, follow instructions, and eventually make a living.

But nobody sat you down and said:

Here is how your mind works.

Here is why you can know exactly what you should do and still not do it.

Here is why another person can send you six words and ruin your entire afternoon.

Here is why you procrastinate on something you desperately want.

Here is why you can be wildly successful in one area of your life and completely lose your mind in another.

Here is why your brain can produce a sentence and, three seconds later, present that sentence to you as established fact.

Nobody taught us any of it.

And that seems like a fairly significant omission.

So I built a school for it.

Welcome to The Life Coach School.

I have spent the last twenty years teaching people how to understand their minds.

And then how to help another person understand hers.

We call that skill coaching.

I think coaching is one of the most useful educations a human being can have.

Not because everyone should become a life coach.

They shouldn't.

But because you will spend the rest of your life dealing with human beings.

You will work with them.

Love them.

Raise them.

Hire them.

Fire them.

Marry them.

Be annoyed by them in airports.

And, inconveniently, you are one.

So understanding human behavior seems relevant.

We teach it with five components.

Circumstances.

Thoughts.

Feelings.

Actions.

Results.

We call this The Model.

Something happens.

You think something about it.

Your thought creates a feeling.

Your feeling drives what you do.

What you do creates a result.

Five components.

One method.

A ridiculous number of applications.

Your boss sends you an email:

Can you come see me?

Six words.

Your brain immediately supplies:

I'm in trouble.

Now you're anxious.

You reread the email seventeen times.

You mentally review every mistake you've made since 2004.

You can't concentrate.

You arrive at your boss's office defensive.

Someone else gets the exact same email and thinks:

I wonder what she wants.

And continues eating lunch.

Same six words.

Completely different experience.

The difference isn't the email.

The difference is what happened in the mind.

Once you understand this, you start seeing it everywhere.

Your marriage has Models.

Your money has Models.

Your career has Models.

Your body has Models.

Your ambition has Models.

Your confidence has Models.

Your mother definitely has Models.

And when you learn to see them, you stop being quite so mysterious to yourself.

This is where it gets interesting.

Most of us experience our thoughts from inside our thoughts.

Your brain says:

I'm not good enough.

And instead of noticing:

Interesting. My brain just produced the sentence "I'm not good enough."

you experience:

FACT.

Case closed.

This is one of the mind's more impressive tricks.

It writes the newspaper and then reads it to you as evidence.

Self-coaching teaches you to notice the difference.

To hear the thought without automatically obeying it.

To feel an emotion without treating it like an emergency.

To see what you're doing and understand why you're doing it.

To recognize how you're creating a result before you spend another year blaming the result on something outside of you.

Not a mantra.

Not a motivational quote.

Not somebody else's answer.

A method.

Something you know how to use.

Then I want to teach you to do it for someone else.

That's coaching.

And I want to be precise here because the word coaching has become impressively vague.

Coaching isn't telling someone what to do.

It isn't giving advice with a question mark at the end.

It isn't fixing people.

And it definitely isn't sitting across from someone nodding thoughtfully while secretly thinking:

Holy shit, she should leave him.

A coach learns to listen differently.

She listens for the thought underneath the story.

The feeling driving the action.

The action creating the result.

She learns to ask questions.

To stay curious.

To challenge without controlling.

To help without rescuing.

To stay out of the way.

And sometimes there is this extraordinary little moment.

A person who has spent twenty minutes explaining why her problem is impossible suddenly sees something she couldn't see before.

She says:

Oh.

That's what I'm believing.

I never get tired of that moment.

Learning how to help create it is coaching.

There is something different about a woman who knows how to coach.

She hears things differently.

Someone says, I can't do it, and she doesn't immediately believe them.

Someone is angry with her, and she doesn't automatically make their anger mean she did something wrong.

Her own brain tells her something terrifying, and she knows a thought is not an instruction.

She can sit with someone she loves who is hurting without rushing to fix the pain.

She can hear a problem without climbing inside it.

She notices the sentence underneath the story.

She knows when to ask a question instead of giving an answer.

She understands the difference between helping someone and trying to control how they feel.

And perhaps most importantly:

She knows how to do all of this with herself.

She still has a human brain.

Of course she does.

It still gets scared.

Jealous.

Defensive.

Dramatic.

Occasionally ridiculous.

The difference is that she knows what she's looking at.

She has a way to work with herself.

And she has a way to help someone else.

That is the capability I want to teach you.

So here is the education.

Three stages.

First, learn the method.

You learn The Model and how the five components work together.

Then, apply it to yourself.

You become your own first client.

Your emotions. Your relationships. Your goals. Your confidence. Your actual life.

Then, apply it to others.

You learn to listen, find the Model, ask powerful questions, coach for change, and coach a complete session.

At the end, I don't want you saying:

I learned a lot about coaching.

I want you saying:

I know how to coach.

Knowing about coaching is not knowing how to coach.

You can understand The Model intellectually.

You can listen to hundreds of hours of coaching.

You can even become very good at coaching yourself.

And still not know what to do when another human being sits down in front of you and says:

I don't know what to do.

That's a different skill.

That's the skill we're going to practice.

It took me twenty years to figure out how to teach you this in about two weeks.

Twenty years gives a teacher a lot to say.

I have courses.

Classes.

Tools.

Coaching.

Examples.

Explanations.

Recordings.

I could have put all of it into Coach Certification.

That would have been easy.

And enormous.

Instead, I spent months going through the best of what I've taught and asking:

What does she actually need in order to know how to do this?

Not:

What else could I teach her?

I could teach forever.

That's a dangerous question for a teacher.

So I curated.

Edited.

Reorganized.

Cut repetition.

Kept what mattered.

Not to teach you less.

To help you learn it faster.

The result is Coach Certification Accelerated.

Approximately 15 hours of focused education, designed to be completed in about two weeks.

And I want to make an important distinction here.

Fifteen hours is not mastery.

I would never insult the skill by pretending it is.

Fifteen hours is the focused education I've designed to teach you the method, help you apply it, give you practice coaching another person, and prepare you to demonstrate what you've learned.

Then you spend the rest of your life getting better at it.

That's how skills work.

Certification isn't the end of learning.

It's the point at which you've built the foundation and demonstrated that you understand how to use it.

I made Accelerated for a certain kind of student.

She learns fast.

She likes to work independently.

She doesn't need an education stretched out in order to take it seriously.

She doesn't need weekly motivational speeches.

She doesn't need someone checking whether she finished Module 4.

She wants excellent teaching.

Clear instructions.

Real practice.

A meaningful standard.

And then she wants you to get out of her way so she can learn.

She doesn't need less rigor.

She needs less friction.

If that's you, Accelerated is going to feel very good.

The format is simple.

WATCH. READ. DO.

Learn the concept.

Deepen your understanding.

Use it.

Continue.

No waiting for a cohort.

No artificial pacing.

You move at the speed of your own understanding.

You're an adult.

If you want to finish in two weeks, finish in two weeks.

If you need more time, take more time.

The goal isn't to finish fast.

The goal is to learn well.

Then you earn the certification.

I like the word earn.

You can buy access to the education.

You cannot buy the credential.

Complete the training.

Review.

Take the certification test covering the 15 modules and your ability to apply what you've learned.

If you don't pass, study and take it again.

When you demonstrate that you know the tools, you're certified.

You receive your official Certified Coach credential and logo.

The certification is valuable.

The skill is better.

And then you can go deeper.

Once you're certified, you get access to the Certified Coach Vault—approximately 50 additional hours of teaching and coaching from the larger body of my work.

Accelerated gives you the foundation.

The Vault is where you keep going.

You also get Brooke AI to help you find teachings, explore concepts, work through Models, and navigate the work.

Apparently twenty years of Brooke can now be searched.

Very efficient.

The tuition is $5,000.

$2,500 to begin.

You complete the training.

The remaining $2,500 is due when you're ready to move into certification.

Your tuition includes the Accelerated Training, the certification process, the Certified Coach Vault, Brooke AI, and your official certification credential when earned.

That's the offer.

I'm not going to spend the next twelve paragraphs trying to convince you that $5,000 isn't $5,000.

It is.

The question is simply:

Is learning how to coach worth $5,000 to you?

You know your answer better than I do.

Coaching is a capability before it is a profession.

You may want to coach professionally.

Wonderful.

You may never charge anyone for coaching.

Also wonderful.

Either way, you will spend the rest of your life with a mind of your own—and surrounded by other people who have one too.

Seems relevant.

I think you already know.

Not whether you should want this.

Whether you do.

Do you want to understand your own mind at a much higher level?

Do you want to know how to coach yourself when your actual life happens?

Do you want to become unusually good at listening to another human being?

Do you want to hear what other people miss?

Do you want to know when to ask the question instead of rushing in with the answer?

Do you want to be able to sit across from someone who feels completely stuck and know how to help her see?

Do you want to learn how to coach?

If the answer is no, that's a perfectly complete answer.

But if you've been reading this thinking:

I want to know how to do this.

Good.

That's why I made it.

I don't need six months from you.

I don't need hundreds of hours.

I need your attention.

Your curiosity.

Your willingness to practice.

And about two weeks of focused work.

I'll bring twenty years.

You bring about two weeks.

- Brooke

P.S. You were going to have a brain for the rest of your life anyway. You might as well learn how to use it.
